Cedar Waxwing
Bombycilla cedrorum
The Cedar Waxwing is identified by the crest on its head, black eye mask, and yellow tail
tip. The immature birds have streaked flanks and a paler eye mask. They feed primarily
on fruits and berries and will eat insects during the breeding season. A mating pair will
pass a small item such as insect or leaf back and forth as part of their courtship.
