Usually found nesting on top of an old snag or tree.
In populated areas they will nest on high light
standards and will often nest on manmade
structures. This bird is well equipped for catching
fish so will always be found in proximity to water.
Its angular shaped wings are designed to prevent
injury from its high speed dives into the water. Its
oily feathers repel moisture and allow for take-off
after capturing its prey, even after repeated dives.
