Northern Harrier

The only North American ‘harrier’, it is widespread but uncommon. They are active hunters, flying close to the ground as they search out mice and voles. Their longs wings and tail give them great buoyancy as they seemingly float above the fields where they pounce on prey from only a few feet. Harriers have owl-like facial discs that aid their already keen hearing.
