Northern Hawk Owl Surnia ulula This medium sized owl is diurnal, or active during the daytime where it can be seen roosting on treetops or poles as it searches for prey. They are very hawk-like in their flight and habits, hence their name. They are incredible hunters capable of killing prey more then half their size. They typically feed on mice and small rodents.
