Barred Owl 6173, Old Growth- Usually found in dense conifer or mixed woodlands and swamps. This very robust
species has moved across North America threatening many local owl species which
it competes with for food and territory. Like other owls it does not build a nest but
lays its 3-4 eggs in a tree cavity or stump. Eggs hatch in about 4 weeks. Chicks are ready
to leave the nest about 6 weeks later. Mainly nocturnal, but can be seen during the day 6173
